The Ultimate River Cruise Experience
Handpicked Destinations
Join the travel-obsessed duo (and cruise connoisseurs), Helene and Michael Sula of @heleneinbetween, as we host our very own chartered river cruises through The Netherlands and Belgium at the height of flower season.
We've chartered ships for Christmas markets and for spring and summer in France â and every time, the one thing people ask us afterward is where are you going next? This is it. The trip we've been building toward for three years.
We've handpicked every detail â the ports, the excursions, the timing, and the ship itself, which will be just for our group. Think private cruise meets Dutch spring and Flemish beauty.
Set sail with us:
đˇ Through the flowers of Holland â the gardens, the fields, and a working farm. It's truly something you have to see to believe!Â
đłđą Exploring the Netherlands and all its glory. With pristine canals, classic Dutch architecture, transformative history, and stroopwaffels!
đ And into Belgium â Antwerp, Ghent, and Bruges. Cobblestones, chocolate, and frites in a paper cone the way they're actually meant to be eaten.
This is a custom journey made just for you. Whether you want to do every single excursion or sit in a square with a coffee and watch the world go by, you'll have plenty of time to explore at your own pace.
We'll explore the glorious canals of Amsterdam and the towering golden square of Brussels. Taking time to meander through smaller, quiet villages where we'll taste cheese straight off the cart! Through picture perfect Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges, Middelburg, Dordrecht, Schoonhoven, and Nijmegen â all from our floating boutique hotel.
It's the Netherlands and Belgium you've pictured, brought to life â colorful, fragrant, unhurried, and completely charming.
And best of all? We get to experience it together.

Why a river cruise?
Â
Bottom line: weâre obsessed. This is hands-down our favorite way to travel through Europe (and we've spent our adult life traveling and living here!).
We've hosted group trips all across the continent, but there's something about waking up in a new Dutch or Flemish town every morning â stepping off the ship straight onto a canal path, into a market square, or out into the flowers â without ever unpacking more than once.
We designed this cruise to give you the best of the Netherlands and Belgium with the least amount of hassle. No dragging luggage between trains. No coach tour herding you through a garden at eleven in the morning with four thousand other people. We cruise mostly at night, so you wake up each morning somewhere new.
Every stop is personally handpicked by us â a personalized cheese experience, the silver town of Schoonhoven, the belfries of Ghent, a working flower farm. This is spring done right!
And because this is our own private charter, you're getting unmatched value, total comfort, and a one-of-a-kind group experience â all designed to make this your most unforgettable trip yet.

The best part? Who's on board: YOU
There's an instant unspeakable bond on board and truly, the people that come on this cruise are the coolest people I've ever met. Every sailing, the same thing happens: strangers at dinner on night one, and by day three there are inside jokes. Solo travelers who booked nervously end up in each other's weddings. People swap camera settings on the sun deck, and hotel recommendations for cities nobody else is going to, and phone numbers at the end. These are people who read the same newsletter you do, who booked a flower cruise on purpose, and who will happily talk to you for an hour about a windmill.
WHAT MAKES OUR CRUISE SPECIAL?
The ultimate cruise experience.Â
We are doing it again! We are hosting THREE incredible cruises to the best places in Belgium and the Netherlands.Â
We hand selected each destination, excursion, and the ship, which will be all our own.
We love cruises (and we lived in Europe!). Michael and I have personally explored every destination, handpicked the excursions, and tailored the itinerary based on our favorite markets, towns, cafĂŠs, and hidden gems. There is simply no other cruise like it!
All-inclusive, with customized experiences and TIME to enjoy every aspect of a destination.Â
We've been on dozens of river cruises - we love them! But we didn't love that we had to pay extra for tips, drinks, and excursions. So we made sure to include that. While giving you MAXIMUM time at a destination.
Itâs a Private CharterâJust Us!
Unlike standard river cruises open to the public, this ship is exclusively for our group. That means a community of like-minded travelers, personalized experiences, and the freedom to make this journey uniquely ours.
Extras!
Not only are your food, drinks, and an excursion each day included we also have amazing perks. Like... free bike rental to explore as you like and all tips included! Every day you get a personal email from us listing our favorite cafes, restaurants, museums, and bakeries. We have a private group just for us to ask questions along the way! We thought of EVERYTHING so you can truly enjoy.
There's a reason our travelers book again and again!
Cheers to discovering your next adventure!

The Food
Let's be honest about why this trip is called Flowers and Frites. The Netherlands and Belgium are very serious about waffles (Brussels and Liege style in Belgium and stroopwaffels in the Netherlands). Fried fish, delicious coffee, CHOCOLATE (Belgium invented it) AND fries!! Who has the best? The Netherlands or Belgium? That's up to YOU to decide!
From breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner your plate reflects our passion for sophistication and exquisite European dining. Think five-star dining with five- and six-course meals, featuring a mix of timeless gourmet classics, modern culinary creations, and vegetarian optionsâall prepared with the highest quality ingredients. Each meal is paired with hand-selected wines, and delivered with attentive, first-class service. Dining on board isnât just about eatingâitâs about savoring. All food and drinks on the boat are unlimited. Want two appetizers? You got it. Want all 3 entrees? SURE. You can even order half portions so you can try as much or as little as you want!
Highlights: Delicious, artfully crafted meals, and local specialties from everywhere we go! The menu changes daily and we can fit your dietary needs. Want a break from fancy? There are staples served every day such as Caesar salad, chicken, and more.Â

Hi! We're Helene and Michael!
Â
And we've crafted more than just a cruiseâ
Itâs a once in a life time experience.
We've lived in Germany, England, and France, and after 10+ years of exploring Europe, The Netherlands and Belgium in the spring is still the trip we come back for.
As full-time travel bloggers, we've spent the better part of a decade uncovering Europe's most beautiful corners. From flower fields to medieval market squares, we've built this itinerary to showcase the very best of The Netherlands and Belgium â with ease, charm, and unforgettable experiences.
Michael and I are originally from Dallas, Texas, but we lived in Heidelberg, Germany from 2016 to 2019 â which is where this whole thing started, with a five-and-a-half-hour drive to see whether the tulip photos were real. Since then Helene has written two books (here and here), inspired by the places and stories we've collected along the way.Â
We can't wait to show you a country that grows more flowers than anywhere on earth â and still thinks the correct lunch is fried potatoes in a paper cone.
Why did we charter a ship?
The truth is, Michael and I have been traveling through Europe for over a decade â and after all our adventures, river cruising has become our favorite way to explore. There's just something about unpacking once, floating through storybook landscapes, and stepping off the ship right into charming towns that makes everything feel effortless.
But we found that many itineraries didn't quite match how we like to travel. We want to truly experience each place â maximize our time, explore independently, and have the option to do more than one excursion in a day.
Flower season is where that matters most. Almost every cruise sailing this route does the same thing: one garden, one afternoon, arriving at eleven in the morning alongside four thousand other people. And there was never time to explore the destination.Â
I wouldn't want to choose. So we built it so you don't have to. Have your fries and your chocolate. The gardens and the fields â on two separate days, because one afternoon of flowers isn't a flower cruise. And most farms have roped their fields off entirely now, so we found the one that hasn't, and we go at the end of the day when the crowds have gone.
That's why we spent years personally designing this itinerary â so you don't have to miss a thing.
This is everything we dreamed of: flower fields, windmills, market days, medieval squares, and long spring evenings on the water. We can't wait for you to experience it â this truly is a trip of a lifetime.
Â
The Netherlands and Belgium
Unique offerings you won't find anywhere else!

You can bike through the fields
There is no more Dutch thing to do than ride a bicycle, and no better place to do it than through the flower fields around Keukenhof. You go at your own pace on well marked routes! Stop for every photograph you want. Then free time in the gardens themselves: seven million bulbs planted in layers so something is always at its peak. Take the bike. It's the part people talk about afterward.Â

The Gouda Cheese Market runs April through August, and it has run that way for more than three hundred years. Horse-drawn carts on the Markt, cheese boys hauling forty-pound wheels onto their shoulders, farmers and traders haggling in the open and sealing every deal with a handshake. Most itineraries on this route sail straight past.

Almost every flower farm in Holland has roped its rows off. You can look from the path; you cannot step in. It's understandable â the crowds got out of hand â but it means most people fly across an ocean and end up photographing flowers from behind a barrier. We found the farm that lets you in. You walk between the rows, right down into the color, and you take as long as you want. You'll also learn how one flower nearly bankrupted a country in 1637! Hear the history, get up close and personal with the bulbs, and explore! This is truly something NO ONE ELSE OFFERS!
Not just tulips!
Seven million bulbs go into the ground by hand every autumn, planted in layers so something is always opening: daffodils, hyacinths, rivers of blue muscari, alliums on tall stems like purple fireworks.Â
It's not just flowers!
From learning the history on guided tours in the Netherlands and Belgium, tasting the food, exploring the streets and meandering the canals. Plus thoughtful experiences included every day! There is simply no cruise out there like ours!

I didn't believe the photos (and then I went)
Â
In 2018, living in Heidelberg, Michael and I drove five and a half hours to see the tulip fields.
I'd been looking at the photos for months and I didn't believe them. Colors so saturated I assumed every single one had been edited within an inch of its life. Nothing is that color. Not a whole field of it. Not for miles.
Then I was standing in it. Just us, a few farmers quietly tending their rows, and color running all the way to the horizon. Deep red. Bright yellow. Soft flamingo pink. Brilliant orange.
The photos weren't edited. That's just what they look like. Truly, one of the most shocking things I've ever witnessed in my life.
That's the trip I've been trying to give people ever since and it's finally here.Â
